Man In Court Over Ramsgate Murder

A 31 year old from Ramsgate is due to appear in court today after a man was found stabbed to death in the town last summer.

64 year old John Joyce was found by neighbours in a flat on Conyngham Close on July 15th 2009.

David Alberto denied murder in court in September last year and has been kept in police custody ever since.

After his death, Mr Joyce's family paid tribute to him.

His sister Margaret Hickey said:

"The loss of the loving father of three, grandfather of four and one of 10 siblings has been devastating for those who knew and loved him.

"He moved to Thanet 37 years ago, following his mother who had come down from London. He had lived in Conyngham Close since 1973.

"The retired electrician not only helped his neighbours using the skills he had spent his working life perfecting, but he would happily potter in their gardens, turn his hand to painting and decorating when required and also take and collect friends’ children from school. He would have BBQs and invite people in the close.

"It is a huge loss to us all. He had many people who cared deeply for him and he will be with us in our hearts forever."
