Man Found in Police & Coastguard Search

A missing man has been found following a big search involving Kent police, British Transport Police and two Coastguard Rescue teams last night.

Police say they received a call at 9pm on Sunday 12 February about a man aged in his 50s who was missing from the Romney Marsh area.

A search operation was launched by Kent Police with help from British Transport Police who checked trains and railway stations, and the Coastguard Rescue Teams from Folkestone and Dungeness who searched the coastal area.

The man was found on Greatstone beach at 11.30pm by the Dungeness Coastguard Rescue Team and was suffering from mild hypothermia.

PC Abigail Newman from Kent Police said: "It was very cold last night with temperatures barely above freezing, and we were very concerned about the missing man.

"We’re grateful to all the other agencies for helping, particularly the Coastguard Rescue Team from Dungeness who found him ."
