A man working backstage at a Will Young concert in Rochester has died.

Police were called to the Castle Gardens at around 6pm on Thursday (15th July) after reports a man in his 40's had collapsed.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

The concert was delayed while police set up a cordon and carried out an investigation.

Heart's been told the death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem will take place next week.

The concert was one of a series organised by Medway Council taking place in July.

Medway Council's Director of Regeneration, Community and Culture, Robin Cooper said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the member of the technical crew who sadly died following an accident at the Castle Concerts last night.

"We can confirm that the ambulance, police and health and safety executive where called on site immediately after the accident happened.

"The crew member was taken away by ambulance to hospital. Following this, the police and health and safety executive jointly allowed the show to continue.

"An investigation into this tragic accident is ongoing and we have no further information available at the moment."
