Serious Delays at Dartford Crossing

Drivers wanting to use the Dartford tunnel faced serious delays this morning after several vehicles were involved in a crash.

It happened on the A282 just before the toll booths at around 6.51am.

It's reported four cars and two lorries were involved and firefighters were needed to free two men who were trapped.

The crash blocked three of the four lanes and the road was completely closed for around half an hour for emergency services, including the air ambulance, to get to the scene.

Several people have been injured but it's not thought their injuries are life threatening.

All the vehicles were moved and the lanes reopened at around 9.30am.

At its worst, the queues stretched back seven miles to Junction 4 at Orpington with delays of over an hour.
