Three people being questioned by police about a dog attack on a young girl in Chatham have been released from custody while investigations continue.

Three people being questioned by police about a dog attack on a young girl in Chatham have been released from custody while investigations continue.

One of the three, a man has been bailed until Wednesday 26th April, while a woman and teenager have been released pending further enquiries.

The little girl is thought to have been in a children's play area in the Jenkins Dale part of the town when it happened just before 5.30pm on Tuesday.

She is still being treated for 'very serious' injuries at a London hospital, but she is no longer described as being in a life-threatening condition.

Investigations are continuing to establish the breed of the dog involved which was shot dead at the scene by police.
