We've tried and tested the best products for all hair types and share tips from top hairdressers, including Pixie Lott's stylist Ian Marshall.
"Everybody’s hair is different" says Schwarzkopf Ambassador Charlie Taylor of Charlie Taylor Health & Beauty "so whether you have got fine, thick, long or short, you need to judge when you need to wash your own hair. This is dependent on the quality and texture of the hair as opposed to the season or month. Use the appropriate products for your own hair type. Using the wrong ones can add extra weight or moisture and can easily strip hair of its natural goodness, leaving it looking dry and coarse. During winter, it is common to require products that add moisture, as hair can often be dried out in the cold winter weather. Use a product such as BC Moisture Kick Shampoo and Conditioner (£9.30 each) to keep hair looking fresh and healthy."
Winter weather can make all hair look dull and limp, so if you need a bit of bounce, a volumising shampoo is for you. "Don't just get into using moisture shampoo for your hair if it's dry or coloured shampoo if it's coloured" says Adrian Allen from Adrian Allen Addicted, Schwarzkopf Professional Ambassador "think of your shampoo as the prep for the finish, for fat curls try using BC Volume Shampoo (£9.30). This is amazing on thick hair as well as fine hair when you want to go big! I am loving the Volume Boost from BC at the moment on all hair types, it's like putting a weekend outfit on."
If you hair is fine or normal, you still need a once a week treatment to keep it in top condition. Created for these hair types, Indola Innova Hydrate Light-Weight Treatment (£7.45) is a light mask that moisturises and adds shine without weighing your hair down.
It can be difficult to find the right serum for fine hair, as many really weigh it down. "Check out BC Miracle Oil!" recommends Adrian Allen from Adrian Allen Addicted "What a gem! I use it wet, use it dry before heat styling use it to gloss curls... it's amazing! You need such a small amount and it's treating your hair as well as protecting it. It is weightless, not one bit greasy and you can still apply your favourite styling product over the top or add a little of the BC Miracle Oil to your styling product. It's the luxury must have for any girls hair wardrobe." Schwarzkopf BC Miracle Oil (£19.95)
Blond hair takes a lot of looking after as it can often become brassy, flat and dry. It's important to use products specific for blond hair to revive it and keep it soft and manageable. Schwarzkopf Blondme range has products specific for different tones of blond. Try the Shampoo and Conditioner (prices start at £8.90) in either Neutral or Warm.
If you too have tried the "dip-dye" trend (the ends a different colour, generally lighter, then the rest of the head) you know how dry the ends get, resulting in split ends and breakage. To prevent this from happening and to repair, try Bc Hairtherapy Color Save Colored Ends (£11.80). A balm for the ends, apply on damp or dry hair and don't rise out. Use as often as needed.
"Intensive hair treatments should be used at least once a week" says Ian Marshall, Director at Spargo Hairdressing (and Pixie Lott's stylist) "especially if hair is damaged or you regularly use heated styling tools, and each time you come into the salon. You should look after your hair as you do you skin - it is just as essential to treat it well and not abuse it! I would recommend BC Bonacure Repair Rescue Intense Leave-In Treatment (£11.80) by Schwarzkopf Professional."
Dry and course hair suffers greatly in both winter and summer. The cold can leave it dry whilst the moisture in summer can make it look even frizzier. Essensity Moisturising Shampoo, £10.65, targets dry hair daily for soft, shiny and manageable hair. Follow with Essensity Moisturising Conditioner (£11.75) and once a week Essensity Moisturising Mask (£13.35).
A saviour for unruly, coarse and tangles hair, Schwarzkopf Bonacure Smooth Shine Shampoo (£7.45) nourishes, smooths, hydrates and restores shine. Follow with the conditioner for optimum results. If your hair is fine, only use from the mid of the head to the ends.
"Just like your skin, winter weather can wreak havoc on your hair, changing its look and condition, and it is crucial that you take steps to care for your hair during this season. To protect against the dreaded frizz, invest in a salon-professional intensive treatment once a week, such as SEAH Hairspa Rose Masque (£17.65), and use a good serum achieve long-lasting glossy, frizz-free hair." Thomas McMillan, Cox McMillan Hairdressing

If you have greay or fine hair try the Light version.
An anti-aging mask for hair, Bc Bonacure Time Restore Q10 Treatment (£13.35) is designed for aging, weak and brittle hair. The higher amount of Q10 in the product helps strenghten the hair by stimulating the roots to produce more keratin. Apply on the lengths and leave for only 5-10 minutes before rinsing. Use once a week or when needed.
Containing organic essential citrus oils, Weleda Lemon Balm & Orange Blossom Shampoo (£7.95) cleanses whilst refreshing and balancing the oil production in the scalp.
Dry shampoo has been the hero product of the last two years and it's certainly a great little time saviour. It's not for everyone though. It's best for those with normal, greasy or fine hair as it absorbs the excess oil and moisture. Those with frizzy, dry and coarse hair should steer clear, unless you have a greasy scalp, in which case only apply to the roots. Batiste On The Go Dry Shampoo (£1.52)
When styling your hair always use a heat protector to minimise the damage cause be straightening tongs and hair dryer. Spray Clynol Essentials Flatter Iron Spray (£8.15) onto damp or dry hair before styling. A little goes a long way. "Most women struggle with using the right tools for at home styling - quality brushes, a good hairdryer, professional styling tools" says Clynol Ambassador Tracey Devine from Angels Hair "But most importantly, many tend to ignore their hairdressers"
