Last Christmas Wham!
Let's face it, the days are getting shorter and the thermostat is falling… yes the colder months seems to be settling in early this year. But it isn't all doom and gloom! Whereas summers all about pretty pastels and fab florals, autumn and winter allow us to experiment with another (darker) side of our personalities.
The change of the seasons means it's time to don those dark colour, luxe fabrics and most importantly a whole lot of glitter! As long nights draw on us, sequins and metallics are the name of the game. Picture: Getty
Speaking of luxe fabrics, nothing shouts high end glamour more than soft, thick velvet. This rich texture works for accessories such as shoes and bags as well as for whole outfits. Why reserve this fabulous fabric for special occasions, you can accommodate it into your outfit and wear it whenever? Picture: Getty
Robert Pattinson's singer girlfriend FKA Twigs has made a big impact on the style stakes of late. Make like music royalty and don fabulous jewels this season… from statement necklaces to edgy earrings - the more the better!
Yep, you heard right - this trend is back! But before you start panicking, this is most categorically NOT the dodgy style we were all channelling back in the 90s. This time around it's all about staying warm and looking chic. Think high polo neck styles and warm woollens on top and tailored trousers - always the same colour and print, underneath. We repeat, oversized cover-ups are OUT. This season we're growing up and wrapping up in smarter, more structured jackets. Keep them long and masculine ladies, but with a dash of 30s tailoring thrown in. Picture: Getty
Just because our coats need to be structured this season, doesn't mean we can't still snuggle up in something nice and cosy. Faux fur and downy wool is soft on the skin, whilst still looking expensive and chic. Ideal! Picture: Getty
It's the trend which shows no signs of slowing down or dying out! Yes the hedonistic 70s continues to spread its influence into autumn. Think fringing, waistcoats and earthy colours such as burnt orange, browns and marl greys. Picture: PA
Hoods have so many benefits - they keep us warm and dry and simultaneous manage to look uber-chic. What more could you want? It's time to reclaim the hood from grumpy teens and bring it bang up to the 21st century. Picture: Getty
