Boris Apologises For Fare Rises

Boris Johnson has apologised for putting up tube, bus and train fares.

They will go up, on average, by 4.2 % in the New Year but the Mayor says he had no choice because it is needed to pay for investments in transport.

He also says they cannot run the tube for 24 hours a day because they need to close it down overnight to carry out repairs.

Meanwhile you can now use debit and credit cards to pay for journeys on London buses.

Contactless technology has been brought in so you can swipe your bank cards just like an Oyster card.

Passengers are being warned not just to swipe their purses or wallets because if they have got more than one card they could end up paying twice.
