Calls for 'Elizabeth Tower'

Senior MP's are calling for the tower that houses Big Ben to be renamed the Elizabeth Tower in honour of The Queen.

A cross party group of members is calling on Parliamentary authorities to mark The Diamond Jubilee by mirroring a tribute paid to Queen Victoria.

In 1860 the west tower of the Palace of Westminster was renamed Victoria Tower to commemorate her long rein.
