Fresh crackdown on London's gangs

More than 200 arrests have been made on day one of a new crackdown on London's gangs.

With around 4500 young people in 250 gangs , Scotland Yard are putting specialist officers in the worst areas to build intelligence on the most dangerous people.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Cundy told London's Heart they'll be talking to young people to they can understand issues and prevent them joining gangs.

They're asking local councils in the affected boroughs to provide routes out of gangs and create opportunites for young people.
