London NHS Trust 'Should Be Broken Up'

A report is recommending that the first ever NHS Trust to be placed in administration, should now be broken up.

South London Healthcare NHS Trust was losing around £1.3 million a week before the government stepped in.

A review says any debts should be written off, and existing hospitals merged with other NHS trusts.

It would mean the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site in Woolwich coming together with Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust to create a new organisation providing care for the communities of Greenwich and Lewisham.

The Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough, near Bromley, would be acquired by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
