Londoners are being urged to pack anti-malaria pills if heading abroad after cases of the disease jumped by almost 30% in two years.
There were 1761 reports of malaria in the UK in 2010 up from 1370 in 2008.
The data, from the Health Protection Agency, has been released to mark World Malaria Day.
