The London Olympics will start with the ringing of the biggest bell in Europe
Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle, who is in charge of the Opening Ceremony at the 2012 Olympics, said a 27-tonne bell will be specially-made for the occasion.
He also revealed that the ceremony will feature a performance by hundreds of NHS nurses in a tribute to the public health service. 900 children from the six host boroughs will also be involved.
The title of the ceremony has also be unveiled - Isles of Wonder - and will cost £27million, being based on east London's industrial past.
Mr Boyle said the performance would represent "the people's Games".
