Plans ahead of immigration strike

The Home Office has drawn up contingency plans to cover a one day strike by immigration staff in a row over pensions.

Members of the Immigration Services Union will stop work later this month - potentially affecting border checks at airports which have already been disrupted by a shortage of staff.

The government's understood to be drafting in military police and civil servants and insists disruption will be minimal.
