Police Fear London Mother Travelling to Syria

Metropolitan Police are worried a woman from Walthamstow could be travelling to Syria with her four children.

Scotland Yard is working with police forces overseas to try and trace a woman and her four children who have gone missing from their home in Waltham Forest.

Zahera Tariq, 33, was last seen at her home address in Walthamstow on Tuesday, 25 August at 8am. She is believed to have left the country later that day via London City Airport with her four children on a flight to Amsterdam in the Netherlands and has not been seen or heard from since.

A family member contacted police on Wednesday, 26 August to report that they were missing. After further enquiries officers and family members are concerned that Zahera may be considering travelling to Syria with her children.

Commander Richard Walton, from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, said: "We're concerned about Zahera and her four children and we're doing all we can to work with our partners and colleagues both here and abroad to try and locate them and make sure they are all safe and well."

Zahera is believed to be with her three sons and one daughter, who are aged between nine and twelve.

Anyone with information regarding Zahera and her children's whereabouts should call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.
