Row Over Tube Upgrade Funding

Millions of passengers who use the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines could face years of delays, after a row broke out over the amount of money that will be spent upgrading the network.

The official in charge of funding - ruled that maintenance firm Tube Lines costs for the next 7 years should be just under 4 and a half billion pounds - it's less than they wanted - but 400 million pounds MORE than London Underground reckons it can afford.

Boris Johnson says it means the tube upgrades could now be under threat, and that Londoners are being "asked to write a blank cheque".
