One Person Released After Terror Allegations

A person being held in an investigation into a suspected terror plot has been released without charge.

The arrest, by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, follows six others made on Thursday - two men and a woman in Ealing -  and three men in Stratford -  just over a mile from the Olympic site.

The six, who include a former police community support officer, are still in custody and being questioned on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

On Friday police were granted a warrant extension, meaning officers have until next Thursday to question them.

The alleged plan involved Islamist extremists with potential targets in the UK, but it's understood it was not linked to the Olympics.

At the moment the threat to the UK from international terrorism rated as 'substantial' - the third highest of five levels.
