Teenager Held Over OAP Train Attack

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of punching and kicking an 81-year-old man in the head as he took the train to visit his grandchildren.

The 18-year-old was held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm over the attack on a London Victoria to Orpington train on July 19.

It is alleged that he accused the pensioner of staring at him, before staging the assault and getting off the train at Bromley South.

Police said the elderly victim was left "feeling shaken and vulnerable" after being subjected to a "violent and frightening" attack.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that an 18-year-old man from Orpington has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following an incident on a train travelling close to Bromley South station on Friday July 19.

"The man has been released on police bail pending further inquiries, and is due to return on Wednesday October 2."
