Nearly a quarter of a million people have applied to volunteer at the 2012 Olympics.

Organisers are now going to sift through the applications and narrow it down to the 70 thousand people they need.

Some of the jobs they will be doing are welcoming athletes and checking tickets.

But there is still time to put your name down to be one of Boris Johnson's 8 thousand London ambassadors, who will give information and help to visitors travelling to London for the Games.

The deadline for that is New Year's Eve.
