Sales were up in the West End 7.7 per cent year-on-year last month, despite the economic climate.

The New West End Company says the last week of October saw a 20 per cent increase in footfall, as shoppers returned to the streets and it was boosted by families spending money over half term.

And foreign retailers looking for exposure in London has led to 95 percent of Oxford Street's newest development Park House being snapped up two years before its finished.
