The waiting game

It's just 2 weeks to go until my due date and for some ridiculous reason I'm still getting up at 4.30 in the morning to do the Breakfast Show with Jamie.

I guess I must love it. I will be taking a break very soon though but I plan to be back on Heart Breakfast as quick as possible.  It will be strange to not be on the show and I will miss it but something tells me my world as I know it is about to disappear and be replaced by one in which I'll need to be responsible for my own bundle of joy 24/7, from feeding them, checking they haven't soiled themselves and making sure they've had enough sleep.  I think the last 5 years with Jamie will have prepared me well.

It's all becoming frightening real now as I've got the nursery ready and I'm having conversations about sterilizers, fast flow teats, cabbage leaves (guys, ask the girls), and whether Gina Ford is the devil.  I even stopped a couple in the street at the weekend who I noticed had the same Britax pram as me to check whether the husband had put it together ok.  No offense to him but these things can be confusing.  He's actually done an amazing job over the last couple of weeks of putting together a rocking chair and changing table for the nursery.  For my part, I've moved all my clothes out of what was my dressing/junk room and is now the baby's room.  My husband's reward for all his hard work is that he gets to share his wardrobe space with me.  Not sure how he feels about that.

So it all feels a bit like the moment before the guests arrive at your house party.  You've tidied up, got everything ready and now you're waiting for the party to start, feeling more than a little apprehensive that there won't be too many stains on the carpet, praying that it's a success and wondering why you ever thought this would be a good idea in the first place.

Thank you so much for all your messages over the last couple of months.  It really has been lovely to be able to share my pregnancy so far with you.  Perhaps the next time I write I will have some news for you!

Lots of love,

Harriet x
