Here are some DOs and DON'Ts to help you on your way if you're looking for work from nextstep...
Do tailor your CV to match the jobs you apply for.
Do your homework on the company. It will help you with your CV and covering letter and is essential for a successful interview.
Do think about improving your skills. It will give you more confidence, enhance your CV and open up new opportunities.
Do read the job description properly and make sure your CV and covering letter address the key criteria the recruiter is looking for.
Do remember help is available! nextstep offers free face to face advice on all aspects of learning and work. Our Careers Advisers can give you practical advice on subjects such as; producing CV's, interview techniques, job searching, course searching and conficence building.
Don't just send your CV out to everyone without seriously thinking about whether you actually want the job.
Don't be deceived by job titles. Many organisations use different names for the same jobs. Read the job description before deciding whether it's right for you.
Don't change your career just for the sake of it. A new career can be a great thing but make sure you seriously think about it before you take the plunge.
Don't fill out your application form in pen straight away. Take your time and use a pencil first - you can rub out any mistakes and then go over it in black biro.
Don't give up! If you're not successful call up the recruiter and find out why! You can then use this feedback to help you in the future.
