Bollard painting in Great Holm

8 May 2010, 06:00

Part of Milton Keynes is getting a make-over today - which it's hoped will make two neighbourhoods safer.

Volunteers are re-painting the safety bollards along the Great Holm stretch of the Redway, but more volunteers are needed for next weekend's paint-job in Loughton.

Peter Ballantyne's helping to marshall today's group and told Heart, they've got more work to do:

"After a local questionnaire, people told us one of the main problems was the state of the safety bollards along the Redway in Great Holm and Loughton.

"So this weekend and next weekend, we'll be rubbing them down, giving them a new coat of paint, and adding a new reflective strip.

"It'll make them nicer to look at, but more importantly, provide the level of safety they were originally designed for as they become more visible again".

Peter added that volunteers are needed for next weekend's painting-party in Loughton.  If you're free to help, contact David on 01908 768 615
