It's a month since working parents of 3 and 4 year old's got a boost in the amount of free childcare they can get, but a nursery in Milton Keynes says take-up has been surprisingly low.

The amount is double what it was before September.

The Tiny Steps Day Nursery says the limit on the number of places they have offered under the scheme hasn't even been an issue.

Beatrice Mayombwe takes her child there and is making use of the free 30 hours.

She told us it's working out great....

"I've been able to go to work for additional hours and not incur any extra costs for my older daughter, which means I'm able to pay for my younger daughter to come to the same nursery.

Plus after work I now have an hour to myself to do something, so to tell you the truth it's brilliant.. it's excellent for me."

Natasha Summerfield from Tiny Steps thinks time has been a factor in the slow up-take, with parents in full time work, as well as people not knowing if they are eligible for the scheme in the first place.
