Heart Transplant Patient Releases Single

7 May 2012, 06:00

Christmas 2009, 19 year old Hayden Purcell was in Harefield Hospital being assessed for a heart transplant.

A few days earlier he had contracted an unknown virus that quite literally destroyed his heart overnight. His musical ambitions were put on hold whilst he awaited a suitable donor.

March 7, 2010 Hayden received his new heart and was soon on his way to full recovery.

During the recuperation period he was able to concentrate once more on his music. Composing, teaching himself to play many instruments, recording and then performing at HEARTSWITCH in Aylesbury, in May 2011. The charity event he helped organise with fellow transplant patient, Reena Patalay, to raise awareness of organ donation and funds for the Harefield Hospital Charitable Trust.

This year, HEARTSWITCH 2012 is being held in thecentremk,  Milton Keynes, on May 26th. As part of the promotion Hayden will be releasing his debut single, “When you fell”. The track has been produced by the highly respected composer, performer and producer, Peter John Vettese. Peter’s first professional gig was as the keyboardist for Jethro Tull, in the early 1980’s. Since then Peter has worked with many top international stars, The Bee Gees, Annie Lennox, Melanie C, and most recently, the hugely successful Sia. Peter was assisted by another internationally acclaimed producer, Josh Blair who's worked with Take That, Duran,Duran, Cher, Leona Lewis and Mark Ronson to name a few.

Proceeds from the downloads and airplay will go to the Harefield Hospital who saved his life.
