Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an incident at the Caldecotte Lake, Milton Keynes yesterday

Officers were called at around 6.30pm to reports that a 21-year-old man had gone missing after swimming in the water.  An extensive search has been carried out of the lake and surrounding area by the emergency services including police specialist search and rescue teams. Sadly the body of a man was found at just after 11.10am today (27/5).

Det Sgt Ian Jarvis, officer in charge of the case, said: “It was a warm day and there may have been lots of people by the lake at that time and we would urge them to come forward and speak to us. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, however it is essential that we understand as fully as possible the events leading up to the tragic death of this young man. We would also like to emphasise that while it might be tempting to swim in lakes and rivers during this hot weather, there are hidden dangers under the water and so we would advise against doing so.”

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to urgently contact Det Sgt Jarvis on the non-emergency number 101.
