MK man given Elizabeth Cross

A man from Milton Keynes has been given the Elizabeth Cross and Memorial Scroll.

Sean Going was presented with the medal at the John Howard Barracks in Blakelands this morning, by Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire.

It is in recognition of his father - Corporal Richard Going - who served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and died on the 30th November 1990 in The Gulf War.

The medal was introduced by the Queen last year as an official mark of respect and gratitude for the families of service personnel killed while on active service.

Mr Going told Heart what it means to get the recognition:

"For personal reasons, about closing up a chapter that's been there for over 18 years, I would like to now close down [that chapter] and honour my Dad in a wonderful way. And what better way to do it than with a Queen Elizabeth medal."
