A man's been questioned by police after a 23 year old woman who had been waiting for a taxi in Milton Keynes was sexually assaulted by a driver.

The victim had been at the Swedish House Mafia gig at the Milton Keynes Bowl on Saturday 14 July 2012.  Just before midnight she had gone looking for a taxi, and two women gave her a lift to the taxi rank near the Xscape complex in Central Milton Keynes.

After waiting at Xscape for an hour, a car pulled up offering to take her to her hotel in Luton. She fell asleep and woke up to find the car had been parked and she was being sexually assaulted by the driver.

Police say she managed to stop the assault and the driver drove on but was stopped soon after by roads policing officers for having his fog lights on. The victim then told officers about the sexual assault.

Thames Valley Police say a 37-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested in connection with what happened, and has been released on bail until 5 September 2012.

PC Tracey Pool, investigating officer, said: “We are very keen to speak to the two women who gave the victim a lift to the Xscape taxi rank.

“We would urge anyone, particularly women on their own late at night, to be extremely careful that they only get into licensed taxis.”

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact PC Pool on the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number 101.  Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
