Willen Hospice Truck Pull

18 April 2010, 06:00

A Lorry-Pull is being held today (Sunday) for Willen Hospice.

The event’s starting in the John Lewis car park, where teams of 8 will pull four, 7.5 tonne trucks along Silbury Boulevard to North Eighth Street and back again.

Mel Harriss from Willen Hospice says people are always coming up with unique ideas to raise money for them:

"I just think for them to have organised themselves to do this, to get the roads closed [is fantastic]. They're aiming to raise £10,000 which is a really good amount of money. I'm constantly amazed. You think you've seen it all and then someone else comes up with something."

There are going to be road closures because of the event.

Motorists are advised Silbury Boulevard will be closed from 8am – 12noon, between John Lewis and the junction with North Eighth Street.

The alternative route for westbound vehicles will be via Marlborough Gate to the Bankfield Roundabout, then right into Avebury Boulevard and right again into Saxon Gate.

Eastbound, the route will be via Saxon Gate to the North Saxon Roundabout, then right into H5 Portway to the North Skeldon Roundabout, right into Skeldon Gate and right again into Silbury Boulevard.

Traffic in Secklow Gate at the Silbury Boulevard junction will be held on red traffic lights whilst the lorries pass over the junction.
