An investigation has been launched after a woman died in a fire at her bungalow in Milton Keynes.

Firefighters from Broughton, Great Holm and Bletchley were called to the blaze at Ashby, in Eaglestone yesterday afternoon (Tuesday June 21st).

Area Manager Mick Osborne has been telling Heart: "Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to fight the fire and carry out a search of the premises using a thermal imaging camera.

"They discovered a female occupant and rescued her, but unfortunately she had suffered fatal injuries."

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom, and the woman was found in the sitting room.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and Thames Valley Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
