George Michael jail threat

The singer risks jail after smashing his car into a shop

George Michael was yesterday charged with driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

The singer was freed on bail but has to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court in London on August the 24th.

Michael was arrested on July the 4th when he had an accident and crashed his Range Rover into a a branch of Snappy Snaps in Hampstead.

The court will now have to establish whether the Careless Whisper singer was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

This is not the first time that Michael gets in trouble with the law because of his cannabis use.

In 2006 he was found asleep in his parked car and police found marijuana on him.

A year later he was banned from driving for two years when he was found unconscious at the wheel of his car.
