More relationships are ending via Facebook, a survey has found.
We've all had the discussion before, you tell one of your friends you're seeing someone and they say 'Is it Facebook official?'.
It seems that taking the plunge of changing your relationship status on the social networking giant is the 'official' way to tell the world you are 'loved up'.
But what about when things go the other way? After jumping in at the deep end and telling the world, you have to do it in reverse when it all comes to an end.
SNAP Interactive, publishers of an iPhone dating app, surveyed 1000 users (70% male and 30% female) and discovered that the removal of relationship status', texts and emails are becoming increasingly common ways to end a relationship.
Their survey revealed that:
- Almost 25% of users first found that their relationships were over by looking on Facebook...harsh!!
- Almost 21% of users said they would be willing to break up with someone by changing their Facebook relationship status to single.
- 40% of users have updated their status on Facebook in order to let their partner know they're busy (indirectly).
- 35% of users have used their Facebook status' to give the impression that they're busy, even if they're not.
So are you one of the victims or a ruthless status slayer?
