First Date Tactics

First dates can be nerve-racking - and we have some interesting statistics here that may shed some light on that first date mentality.

We've all been there...You've arranged a date, you're excited, but also nervous. You get to the rendezvous a little early (then ask yourself why) and stand nervously twiddling your thumbs waiting for their arrival. So, what are you hoping for?

A First Date study has revealed some interesting statistics about tactics, desires and dreads.

They include:

  • 70% of women AND men would refuse a kiss on a first date.
  • 1 in 10 men are hoping to be invited in 'for coffee' at the end of the evening.
  • 60% of us have experienced at least one 'bad' First Date.
  • Of those surveyed, 12% had been stood up on a first date.
  • Another 12% have allowed alcohol to impair their behaviour.

Clearly, first dates can be tricky to navigate, they're almost like 'interviews' and neither party wants to alienate the other. So what are the most undesirable moments?

According to the survey:

  • Awkward Silences
  • Nervousness
  • Lack of Chemistry
  • Body Odour / Bad Breath

If the above occur, don't fret, us Brits go on an average of 10 first dates in a lifetime, however, the First Date survey also revealed that less than half of us (48%) like or love going on them.

So have you got a funny first date story? Did everything go horribly wrong or did you know you'd met the love of your life by the time dessert came along?
