Blakeney: Body Found Believed To Be Missing Margaret Read
A body, believed to be a missing Norwich, woman has been found in Blakeney.
Police called the coastguard after the body was found in the water at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.
The RNLI lifeboat also came to help with the recovery of the body.
There has been no formal identification yet but police have told Heart they believe it is missing woman, 70-year-old Margaret Read from Norwich who went missing last Friday.
Stephen Fry and comedian Dara O'Briain had taken to twitter to appeal for help to find her.
Norfolk Police released the following statement to Heart:
"Police can confirm the body of a woman was discovered in the water at Blakeney yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 26 February).
"Officers were called to the scene at approximately 3pm by the HM Coastguard and were assisted in the recovery by the RNLI Lifeboat.
"Investigations continue but her death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
"Formal identification is yet to take place but the woman is believed to be missing person Margaret Read, who was last seen in Norwich on Friday 21 February 2014."
The woman was left needing hospital treatment after the serious sexual assault on Saturday.
A man has died following a crash in Long Melford.
A third person has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Dean Stansby in Ipswich.
