Body Found On Railway Line

The body of a teenager has been found on a railway line.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said:

"BTP officers were called to the railway line near Newmarket station on Wednesday, 6 October after a report of a person being struck by a train.

BTP and Suffolk Constabulary officers attended the incident, which was reported to police at 8.10pm, and the body of a 17-year-old youth [male] was discovered.

The incident is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, including how the youth came to be on the tracks.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

The train involved was the 6.16pm Ipswich to Cambridge service."
