A body has been found in the Little Ouse River at Brandon in Suffolk.

Suffolk Police were contacted just before 4pm today, Sunday 1 July, by an off-duty Norfolk Police officer who had been canoeing on the river when he spotted a badly decomposed body partially caught under a tree on one of the banks near to Gashouse Drove in Brandon.

A cordon has been put in place as an investigation gets underway at the scene.

Police are looking into the possibility the  body is that of a man who was reported missing in May.

Formal identification has not been carried out but officers believe he may be Robert Arnold, 65, who was reported missing to police on 24 May.

The death is still being treated as unexplained pending the result of a post mortem which will be held in the next few days, however officers say there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this time.
