Celebrations For The Olympics Begin

Our County Councils are holding celebrations over the weekend to mark one year to go until the Olympics.

Suffolk and Norfolk County Councils will be running different events across the region as part of the London 2012 open weekend, which include sporting, arty and cultural activities.

In Suffolk, dozens of community groups, sports clubs, cultural organisations and town and parish councils have embraced the challenge with an expected 60 different events expected to take place over the weekend.

Activities and demonstrations include- Caribbean Steel Band workshop on the Ipswich Waterfront, Beccles Chariots of Fire, dancing in Stansfield, golf decathlon in Newton Green among other things.

In Norfolk, they are holding events that will bring he community groups and residents together as well as trying to engage volunteers and leave a positive legacy.
