Local singer/songwriter from Suffolk has just returned from doing the world's coldest ever gig.

Charlie Simpson did the one-off gig to residents of a tiny Siberian town, Oymyakon, which holds the lowest temperature ever recorded in a populated area on earth.

Temperatures get down to -40C and Charlie and his crew battled sub-arctic climates so cold that mobile phones don't work, water turns to snow mid air and fish caught in the local rivers freeze instantly.

Before the gig, Charlie said, " This is by far one of the biggest challenges of my career, but I'm really excited to get out there and see a part of our world that very few people will ever get to visit. It's not really an option to play my guitar wearing gloves, so I just hope my fingers don't freeze."
