Fire Service Protests in Norfolk

Fire crews have been protesting outside Norfolk County Council overplanned job cuts...

Firefighters have been protesting about planned job losses to the service today.

Norfolk County Council are deciding how to save millions of pounds as part of government cuts.

So firecrews gathered outside the council's head offices in Norwich to make their voices heard.

Stefan Rider from the Fire Brigade's Union in Norwich told Heart: "A reduction of service would mean a change to the type of engine and number of people employed at some stations, changes to some crews and locations, a possible reduction in crews in Gorleston, and the removal of one engine from Norwich area.

"The main impact across the county is it'll take longer to get the resources to where lives could be at risk.
They're also deciding the future of things like Speed Cameras, Health and children nurseries."
