Four people have been arrested and equipment seized after police were called to an unlicensed music event being attended by between 150 and 200 people in the Panxworth area.

Officers, who were first made aware of the incident at around 1am Sunday morning, looked to identify the organisers as well as monitoring the event for safety at this rural location during the hours of darkness.

With daylight, officers were able to conduct a full assessment of the site which identified offences of criminal damage and allowed the identification of key participants.

The music was turned off shortly after midday and officers began getting attendees and their vehicles away from the area with the site clear just after 2.15pm.

Enquiries led to four people being arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the organisation of an unlicensed music event.  The suspects are currently being held in custody at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre awaiting questioning.

Superintendent Malcolm Cooke, who led the police response this morning, said:

"Unlicensed music events such as these not only cause disruption and distress to local residents but can also result in damage and financial penalties to landowners at the location where they are held.

"The action taken today falls in line with our efforts to reduce serious anti-social behaviour and environmental damage caused by illegal and unlicensed events.”
