Gillingham: New Appeal After Crash

20 July 2012, 05:00

Police want to speak to the drivers of two vehicles seen on the A143 at Gillingham on Tuesday evening, 17th July 2012 as the investigation into a fatal road traffic collision continues.

At approximately 6:30pm, a red Vauxhall Corsa and a black Mercedes were travelling in opposite directions west of the services roundabout when they were in collision with each other.

The female front seat passenger and the male rear seat passenger of the Corsa sadly received fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The female driver of that vehicle was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital where she is in a serious but stable condition. All three are aged 18 and from the Lowestoft area.

The occupants of the Mercedes, who are not local, were not seriously injured.

It is believed that immediately prior to the collision, a vehicle travelling towards Norwich was overtaking a moped. Officers would like to trace the drivers and any occupants of these vehicles as they may be important witnesses and may able to assist the investigation.

Anyone with information should contact PC Keith Wiseman at Norfolk Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
