A teenage girl has been flown to hospital after the horse she was riding collapsed and died.

The 14 year old received serious head injuries after the horse fell on her at Great Witchingham in Norfolk between Norwich and Fakenham.

She has been flown to Addenbrookes hospital, Cambridge, where her condition last night was described as 'stable'.

A joint police and Health and Safety Executive investigation is underway to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. A police spokesman said: "Although we're in the early stages of our investigation, early indications are that this was a tragic accident."
