Holton: Man Jailed After 3 Police Assaults

A man's been jailed after assaulting three police officers.

A 24-year-old man has been jailed after admitting two counts of criminal damage and three counts of assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty after incidents in Holton on Sunday 21 October.

Police were initially alerted to reports of a disturbance around 9.15pm and found a wheelie bin next to a BMW that had its front windscreen smashed.

A witness had seen Steven Clark causing the damage. Officers began to search for him and around 10.20pm received a call that he was smashing up an address. Police immediately attended and arrested Clark for the damage offences however he then began to struggle with officers, kicking one in the head, biting and headbutting another and kicking and spitting at a third who was called to assist. He was further arrested for assaulting the officers and taken into custody.

Clark, of Bungay Road in Holton, was subsequently charged with damaging the car and a window at a home and with assaulting the three officers during the course of his arrest. The officer kicked in the head was detained at the James Paget Hospital overnight for checks.

He subsequently pleaded guilty at Lowestoft Magistrates Court on Tuesday to all five offences and given an eight-week sentence for the offences, however part of a suspended sentence given for a previous offence was also invoked giving a further six-week consecutive sentence – a total of 14 weeks imprisonment.
