A girl has been praised for her courage by police in Lowestoft for helping to catch a paedophile.

A 10 year old girl's helped catch a Lowestoft man who was abusing her after she took a picture of him on her games console.

46 year old John Fisher of Homefield Avenue admitted the offences after he was shown the picture which had been taken on her nintendo DS.

He was yesterday (Tuesday, March 27th) jailed for three and a half years at Ipswich Crown Court, and made to sign the sex offenders' register.

DC Annabelle Bunn, the officer in the case, praised the girl for her courage and presence of mind.
"Her quick thinking in using her games console to take a photograph of him touching her provided indisputable proof of what had happened and she was brave enough to come forward and report the incident and give us a full and accurate account of what had gone on.
"Although Fisher initially denied assaulting her, when confronted with the image he had no choice but to concede he had done exactly as she had reported.
"It is important that victims of sexual abuse feel they can come forward, regardless of their age or how long ago they were abused, and we will continue to work with those who find the courage to come forward to try and bring offenders like Fisher to justice."
