Lowestoft: Man Charged After Robbery

A 30 year old man's been charged with aggravated burglary after two women were assaulted during a robbery at a house in Lowestoft.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of section 18 GBH following an incident at a home in Cambridge Road in Lowestoft in the early hours of Monday, 27 August.

Alan Harwood, of High Street, Lowestoft, was arrested on Tuesday 28 following the incident, which happened around 2.40am on Monday, where a 47-year-old woman sustained serious head injuries and a 28-year-old woman suffered head injuries and a broken arm.

He was taken into custody where, over the past two days, he has been interviewed by officers about the attack.

This afternoon, Thursday 30 August, after extensive enquiries and the forensic examination of several premises, police have received authorisation to charge him with four offences - two counts of GBH relating to the injuries sustained by the two women, one of aggravated burglary and one of production of cannabis, after plants were found during searches.

He is being detained in custody overnight pending an appearance at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court tomorrow morning, Friday 31 August.

The 47-year-old woman injured in the incident remains in a serious but stable condition at Addenbrookes hospital.
