Harleston: Man hurt after stand off

A mans being treated in hospital after he injured himself with an air gun.

Police and trained negotiators were outside the house in Martin Road in Hareleston in Norfolk for six hours last night...

A forty five year old mans been arrested and is being treated for minor injuries...

A Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said “ Police were called to a property on Martin Road in Harleston last night (Tuesday 7 February) at about 5.10pm to reports of a 45 year old man with a suspected firearm making threats. Armed response units attended the scene along with trained police negotiators. In the interest of public safety, officers cordoned off an area around the property. During the incident the man discharged an air weapon into his stomach.

“At about 11.10pm the man was detained and arrested by officers and taken to the James Paget hospital for treatment to his minor injuries sustained by air gun pellets and  currently remains there. No taser or firearm was discharged in the incident. A seal remains in place at the property and a full search of the premises is being carried out today by crime scene investigators.”
