Men Jailed for £2k Alcohol Theft

Two men who stole more than £2,000 worth of spirits and champagne from a Caister supermarket have been jailed.

Sean Buckley and Philip Brown, both from London, appeared at Norwich Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday 1 September.

The court heard how over a period of 45 minutes on January 27 this year, Buckley and Brown went into Tesco four times and on each occasion selected numerous bottles of alcohol, totalling £2,185.77 worth, before putting them into a trolley and leaving the store without paying.

The incident was captured on CCTV at the Yarmouth Road and officers were able to identify Buckley and Brown as a result.

Buckley, 57 of Overton Drive, and Brown, 44, of Dawson Close, pleaded guilty to theft and were both jailed for eight months and ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.
