The group who run Suffolk and Norfolk's trains has been named rail operator of the year.

Greater Anglia was named train operator of the year at the 15th Rail Business Awards, held last night  at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

The Dutch-owned operator received the title for their performance since it was awarded a two-year contract to run the new franchise in February 2012.

They operate 1,900 trains a day and carry two million passengers a week.

Praising Greater Anglia for its winning entry, the judges said: “Performance during the first year of operation has been very impressive. This came across very clearly in its excellent submission.“
