Police have been searching a remote area of woodland over the weekend after some human remains were found.

Police were called to an area near Mundford on Friday 10 June at about 7.45pm after a member of the public found the remains.

Officers carried out a detailed search of the area earlier on Sunday and police can confirm there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

It is believed the remains are those of a missing person from Eastbourne, in Sussex, who was first reported missing in February 2006.

The next of kin of the missing person have been informed and formal identification procedures are expected to take about a week.

The matter is now being referred to Her Majesty’s Coroner.
