Seven Arrested in Police Drug Raids
Seven people have been arrested and drugs totalling over £2,000 recovered after police in Great Yarmouth carried out two days of warrants to tackle class A and class B drug supply.
Officers carried out warrants at addresses in Trafalgar Square, Coronation Terrace, North Quay, St Peters Road, Bells Marsh Road in Gorleston, Southtown Road, Elder Green, Mill Road in Cobholm and Kent Road in Lowestoft.
In addition to the seven arrests police also issued one fixed penalty notice for possession of cannabis.
Officers have seized heroin believed to have a street value of over £400, cannabis believed to be worth in excess of £1,600, a quantity of cash and what is thought to be stolen property.
Chief Inspector Stuart Armes said he was pleased with the results.
"The two days of activity have been based on intelligence received by police which has allowed us to go and carry out these warrants to disrupt the activities of those suspected of involvement in drug supply in our community.
"This has led to a number of arrests and seizures of drugs including heroin and cannabis as well as cash that may be proceeds from dealing them.
"This is part of an ongoing operation to tackle the supply of drugs in the Great Yarmouth area in order to make our neighbourhoods safer and better places to live.
"Drug use is often linked to other so-called acquisitive crimes, such as burglaries and thefts, and it is hoped that tackling those involved in the trade will ensure that we continue to maintain low crime levels in the Borough, as well as addressing the harm that is caused by drugs.
"We will continue to carry out warrants against those suspected of involvement in the supply of class A and B drugs and would ask anyone with information about suspected dealers or properties where cannabis is being grown to call us on 0845 456 4567."
